This week in Rome, the Vatican is offering the annual course, “Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation,” designed for priests and lay persons interested in learning how to recognize demonic possession and how to deal with it.
According the Catholic News Agency, the course will help priests and lay people distinguish demonic possession from psychological or medical conditions. The sessions will also examine related issues, including occult practices, Satanism, and nihilism among young people.
“It’s becoming a pastoral emergency,” said Dr. Valter Cascioli, spokesman for the International Association of Exorcists. “At the moment the number of disturbances of extraordinary demonic activity is on the rise.”
