On January 17, a headline in the Washington Post announced “Famed Buddhist nun Pema Chodron retires, cites handling of sexual misconduct allegations against her group’s leader.”

One of the best-known interpreters of Tibetan Buddhism in the West, Chodron is an influential teacher who has published a number of popular books including “When Things Fall Apart.” The group she publicly retired from is Shambhala, the global Buddhist and mindfulness organization founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
