The Purpose of Life

purpose

Meher Baba – “The purpose of life is to recognize God within ourselves……..to realize our oneness with the infinite. This can be achieved through love for God. This can be done even whilst attending to our worldly duties. In every day walks of life and amidst intense activities we should feel detached and dedicate our doings to our beloved God.”

Neem Karoli Baba – “The best service you can do is to keep your thoughts on God. Keep God in mind every minute. Love all men as God, even if they hurt you or shame you. Be like Gandhi and Christ. Love is the strongest medicine. It is more powerful than electricity.”

Ramana Maharshi – “The goal of mankind is knowledge of God and not worldly enjoyments. The highest goal of man is to enquire, “Who am I?” and realize the Self. If a human being does not try to realize this, he lives in vain.”

Dalai Lama – “I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.”

Robert Adams – “Our mission on this earth is to be of service to humanity, to alleviate the suffering of others. Just sing and chant to God with all your heart everyday and this will purify you, bring holiness, happiness.”

Daskalos (Christian mystic Dr. Stylianos Atteshlis) – “So what is the real purpose of life? It is to find our latent, real Self and manifest it. This is the aim of all human beings…it is the aim of life. Many systems for self-development have been given to Man, at all times, by great teachers. All these systems aim at taking one out of the confusion, out of one’s illusions, to free the personality of Man from the ignorance, leading Man to Self-Realization.”

What if life does not have a general purpose, but that each individual has come in with a unique individualistic purpose.

Such that the Buddhas purpose was to spread compassion and truth
    Christ’s was love and God
    MLK’s was freedom.

What if our divine birth date reveals to us our unique purpose, upfront?
