The origin of the Covid-19 virus, we have been informed by the media, is Chinese bats, a conclusion based on a near-unanimous consensus by scientists that it emerged in animals before jumping to  humans. “Fact” checking sites like Snopes promulgate this theory and dismiss any notion that 1. it escaped from a lab, or 2. it is a bioweapon.
